How do I install the Ingenico iSC 250 payment terminal?

Ascend's integration with Ingenico payment terminals allows you to offer your customers the option to pay for their purchases by credit or debit card.

Remember:

  • Payment terminal integration requires Ascend version Fall 2015 or later.
  • Terminals must be purchased from Ascend in order to function properly. To order, click here to email our sales team.
  • Not all versions of the Ingenico iSC Touch 250 driver are compatible with Ascend. Download the driver from www.ascendrms.com
  • Integrated debit and credit card payments require payment processing from Chase Paymentech.

Connect your hardware


Before the payment terminal can be configured, the hardware must be properly installed. Simply:
  1. Plug the connection cable's round end into the power supply.
  2. Plug the connection cable's usb end into the back of the computer. 
  3. Plug the power supply into an electrical outlet. 
Install your driver software

Before the terminal can be used in Ascend, the driver software must be installed and configured. To do this:
  1. Click here to download the USB Driver for Ingenico Terminals and save the file to your Windows Desktop.
  2. From the Windows Desktop, double-click IngenicoUSBDrivers_2.80_setup.exe. The Ingenico Device Installer Setup Wizard displays:
  3. Welcome to the Ingenico USB Drivers Package: Click Next.
  4. Choose Install Location: Click Next.
  5. USB Driver Parameters:
  6. Check the Force COM Port feature enabled option
  7. From the Product ID (PID) drop-down menu, select 0062 (iSC2xx).
  8. In the Virtual COM Port field, enter 28.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Advanced Parameters: Click Next.
  11. Choose Start Menu Folder: Click Install.
  12. Completing the Ingenico USB Driver Package: Click Finish.

Configure your USB device settings


After the terminal is installed, the computer's power options must be configured. To do this:
  1. Right-click Start
  2. From the displayed menu, select Control Panel
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. Click Power Options.
  5. In the Plans section, select the High Performance option. 
  6. Click Change plan settings
  7. From the Edit Plan Settings dialog box, click Change advanced power settings
  8. From the Power Options dialog box, expand the USB settings menu. 
  9. Expand the USB selective suspend setting menu.
  10. From the Setting drop-down menu, select Disabled.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Save Changes.

Prepare your custom image


To add the image to your payment terminals, it needs to be sized to exactly 480x272 pixels, use the RGB color scheme, and it needs to be in JPEG file format.

1. Open the AscendRMS.com website and sign in. 2. Select Downloads from within the Retailer Portal. Then scroll to Marketing and click Ingenico Terminal Default Images. 3. The file downloads, and you can open it.
4. The folder contains:

  • The default Ingenico Welcome image
  • Several blank images, that are already the right size for the Ingenico

The blank images include several different files formats, so you can be sure there's one that is compatible with the programs on your computer! Just make sure the "end result" is saved or exported as a JPEG.
 

Configure your USB device settings


After the terminal is installed, Ascend's options must be configured. If you'd like, custom logos or advertising images may be displayed on the terminal screen.

General Options

  1. From the Ascend Desktop, click Options
  2. Select the Payment Processing topic.
  3. Click Pinpad Setup.
  4. Check the Ingenico Device option.
  5. In the Port field, enter 28.

Custom Display Setup

  1. From the Pinnpad Setup dialog box, check the Enable Device Ads option.
  2. Click Open Image Folder.
  3. Copy your desired images to C:\ProgramData\Ascend\Images\Ads folder
  4. Return to Ascend
  5. From the Pinpad Setup dialog box, click Send Images to Device.
  6. Click Save. The Options dialog box redisplays.
  7. Click OK.
Sherpa Tip: Images must be sized 480 x 272 pixels or the equivalent ration of smaller dimensions. They should also be saved in .jpg format and use the RGB color mode/profile.
