Set up your Klarna account

Klarna is a great financing option for customers that allows them to pay off their purchases over time.

Klarna is replacing the Trek Credit Card on October 21st, 2021. To learn more about this change, visit the Trek B2B article. This link works best if you’re first logged into the B2B site.

Apply to Klarna

  1. Download and fill out the Business Inquiry Form.
  2. The form must be completed by the owner or authorized signatory of the business. Then, fill it out and send it to for US retailers, for Canadian retailers along with a copy of your photo ID and your business registration documentation.
  3. It takes 7-10 business days for Klarna to process your application and set up the account.
  4. Once your form has been processed, Klarna sends an in-store agreement to the email you listed on your form. Make sure to sign and return the in-store retail agreement to Klarna within 48 hours to ensure that you're able to start processing Klarna payments as soon as possible.
  5. After you sign the form, Klarna will email instructions on signing up for their Merchant Portal.
  6. Follow the Merchant Portal instructions.
  7. Go to Settings > Klarna API Credentials > Generate new Klarna API Credentials.

8. The Merchant Portal generates Klarna credentials for Ascend.

Connect Klarna and Ascend

Klarna is coming with full Ascend integration - giving you an easy way to process payments quickly during checkout without leaving the app. Retailers using the integrated version of Klarna with Ascend are also given a special rate.

1. Update your workstations to the October 2021 version of Ascend.
Note: Please ensure your Location information is completely filled out within Database Explorer > Locations to ensure integration works properly.
2. Copy your API credentials from the Klarna Merchant Portal.

3. Navigate to Ascend HQ and log in.

4. Select the Integrator option on the left hand side. The Integrator is not an option before October 21st, 2021. 

Pro tip: The Integrator is only a visible option for retailers who have been approved by Klarna. You cannot see this option beforehand! 

5. Select Klarna.

6. Enter your credentials from the Merchant Portal. 

7. Click Save in Ascend HQ. 

8. Restart the Ascend program on your computers. Once Ascend HQ is updated, the Klarna payment type in Ascend is automatically enabled.
